A project to celebrate wetlands, in an aesthetic, fun and educational way.
For this project, our team once again finds the CEN PACA (Conservatory of natural spaces of Provence), after having explored the plain of Crau with Herakles then the Grasshopper, we are now interested in wetlands. On the occasion of the IUCN World Conservation Congress and for its Ecomuseum, CEN PACA commissioned us to create an augmented reality application illustrating the water cycle. This device will be created on a monumental work by artist Anne-Lise Koehler.
Through this life-size work, we want to share with as many people as possible the richness of a natural world that is fragile but also full of resources, far exceeding our imagination. The application will make it possible to give life to the phenomena and species inhabiting wetlands, and to provide the information necessary to understand the issues and their functioning. To make puppets and sets, Anne-Lise Koehler used paper from recovered books (flea markets, Emmaüs, books intended for the pestle, etc.). This recycling of resources and the absence of toxic materials are among the founding choices for the manufacture of sculptures. Paper, in addition to its strength and ease of use, is a very human material. It conveys our culture, made of symbols and dreams!
For this project Les Fées Spéciales are responsible for producing the AR (augmented reality) application. A monumental version of the experience will be shown in the Generations Nature Spaces of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) World Conservation Congress at Parc Chanot in Marseille in 2021. Part of the device will then join the Ecomusée de Crau.
