Immersive movie for the permanent exhibition – from july 2026.

7 minutes – video projection 4K– ratio 3:1

Closed since September 2021, the Chamonix Alpine Museum will reopen on July 10, 2026, under a new identity: the Mont-Blanc Museum. Led by the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley Community of Municipalities, this ambitious transformation project aims to enhance the region’s cultural and tourism offering. The new museum features three permanent exhibition galleries dedicated to the history, mountaineering heritage, and landscapes of Mont Blanc, alongside a temporary exhibition space and a wide range of educational activities. As part of the new visitor experience, an immersive non-photorealistic 3D animated film, directed by Patrice Blanc and produced by Les Fées Spéciales animation studio, welcomes visitors at the very beginning of the exhibition. The film retraces the geological and human history of the Chamonix Valley, from the formation of the Mont Blanc massif to a scientifically inspired vision of its future, exploring the evolution of its natural environments and the communities that have shaped—and continue to shape—the valley. We warmly invite you to discover this unique experience, where art meets science.

Find more information about the museum in the Communauté de Communes’ website.

You can also check our blog post (in french), in which we describe some of the first steps of the projects.
